Adulting is Hard – Encouragement Card

When it comes to adulting, there are days we need all the help we can get!  And help can come in all different forms from cocktails or coffee to chocolate or cookies.  No matter your preferred choice for support, the stamp set, Nothing’s Better Than, has the most important angles covered to make the perfect card for a friend in need.

This set’s images have a bit of a retro feel with a great combination of flowing cursive and sans serif fonts. Each food item features a line drawn image and a background stamp.  In the case of my first card, I chose to color in the cocktail glasses with Stampin’ Blends before cutting them out with the accompanying Love Your More Than dies.  Before assembling the card, I used a blending brush to add a light wash of Bermuda Bay ink to the background.  I followed that with a Dark Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends marker that I used to create the random flicks of color.

The sentiments were stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder and then trimmed down to size.  The scalloped circle also received a blush of Calypso Coral color.

In the next example, I used the coffee cup and accompanying solid stamp to create a retro-inspired color palette for my background.  The little star stamp in this set adds a nice touch to the sentiment in the stitched circle in the middle.  You could easily stamp an entire 8.5 x 11 sheet of basic white cardstock using the coffee cups, cookies, chocolate or cocktail glasses, as I’ve done here, and cut the pieces into quarters to make your own background paper.  On this card, I cut my background down to 5 1/8 x 3 3/4 to mount it two different pieces of colored cardstock measuring 5 1/4 x 4 and 5 3/8 x 4 1/8.  My base is Thick Basic White.

I will admit to using a couple of retired colors on the card below, including Grapefruit Grove (ink and cardstock), Terracotta Tile (ink and cardstock), and Pineapple Punch (ink).  However, you could easily substitute these colors.

I hope you enjoyed these cards as much as I did creating them.  Although I didn’t make them with anyone in particular in mind, it never hurts to have a few like these on hand for those moments when they’re needed most!
