First, I’m so glad I purchased the The Welcome Easter stamp set before it retired this year. As you can see, these adorable little animals can have a variety of uses beyond Easter, especially when it comes to making a special card for a new “little one”.
The card below is one I just presented to my step-daughter who just welcomed her first child, a beautiful baby girl! As I’ve mentioned previously, I’ve come to love coloring in images and this adorable bunny was no exception.
I started by stamping the bunny in Momento Tuxedo Black Ink on Shimmery White cardstock. Generally, when I’m creating a card, I like to make the most of my time by stamping multiples. So, I ended up stamping and coloring multiple bunnies, chicks and lambs to have extras on hand and just in case of mistakes, which happen often!
Once the ink was dry, I used a combination of Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends markers to color in and shade the main parts of the bunny and then used both Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blends for the bottoms of the feet, ears and nose. Then I fussy cut “thumper”.
I accidentally grabbed a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for the front of the card. I say accidentally because I realized the outline of the bunny was a stark white against the Very Vanilla once it was all put together. No worries though! I just grabbed a colored pencil and lightly colored around the bunny so it would blend in a little better against the off-white background.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. I wanted a little “scene” behind the bunny and I had some leftover checked paper (from another company) that matched the card base color, Blushing Bride. First, I stamped some of the grass from this set in the same Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and colored it in with my Light and Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. Then, I used my Layering Circle dies to cut out the circle in the Very Vanilla, followed by a slightly larger scalloped die from the same set to cut out a border from Granny Apple Green cardstock. I adhered a circle of the checked paper to the back of the Very Vanilla, then the green scalloped circle to the front.
The sentiment was also stamped in Tuxedo Black and then it was time to adhere the front to the card base! The bunny was next. I popped it off the card just a bit using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Taking a step back, the card still needed a little something. Sparkle! It’s difficult to see in the image, but there is a bit of Wink of Stella added to the bunny’s bib and feet to compliment the three gems on the card. There is also a panel of Very Vanilla on the inside, too where I added a personal message.
I can’t wait to use this set again. If you need a baby card, let me know!! Thank you for stopping by and
