Why haven’t I taken the time to use this suite more often? The Ornate Garden Suite from Stampin’ Up! is just beautiful – the paper, stamps and dies! I tried a technique that is new to me to color the flowers. I bought Stampin’ Up! Blending pens a while ago but recently tried them out, using ink from the lids of my stamp pads, to color these them. I love how they turned out. Coloring makes me feel like a kid again. For the finishing touch, I used dimensionals to raise the flowers and sentiment, added some rhinestone basic jewels and a little silver Wink of Stella to the sentiment and to the centers of the flowers. The Wink of Stella (clear on the card on the right) doesn’t show in the pictures, but it adds a wonderful shimmer to the card without the mess of glitter.
As you can see from the images below, the dies alone can produce simply gorgeous borders and backgrounds for sentiments and images. The Thank You card at the top right features one of the “label” dies from the Ornate Layers Dies collection. Although you can’t tell by the image, some of the sheets of Designer Series paper features gold foil, which reflects light beautifully and adds a nice touch of shine to any card or project.
